Hi I had an existing English Windows XP running in my PC but it is not working now after I tried to install windows xp chinese version on the same hard disk.
My original aim is to install Windows XP chinese on the other partition (e.g D: Drive) on my hardisk followed by Windows 98 (On the F: Drive of my same hard disk)- Meaning my hard disk shld run 3 systems : C: on windows XP English, D:Windows XP Chinese and F: Windows 98
Because I did not have any success in installing windows XP chinese on the other partition,
I delete the partition thinking it will work well. But even before i did that, I am not able to boot up my english windows xp version.
Anyone can guide me how to install together my windows xp english in C:, Windows XP chinese
in D: and windows 98 in F:? I am a home user. Thanks a lot!
I will buy food and drinks for yoU (Only applicable for those in Singapore)

Have you tried this?
I've never done this so I am as in the dark about changing languages on XP as you are. However I briefly went on the net and found this forum.:

there's this one too!

I do know one thing though. If you do have some data on that XP box then you should back it up before any configuration changes. It's a safe measure to take just in case you have to install the operating system from scratch again. Good luck! I hope this pointed you in the right direction? Please let me know if this worked? I would like to know.

Hi thanks for your reply but I afraid it does not work at all because what I had been asking is nothing to do with your solution.
I was trying to setup my hardisk to run 3 systems : C: WIndows XP, D: Windows XP chinese and F: Windows 98.
I already have a windows XP English operating system when I tried to install windows XP chinese in D:, then on reboot, I can't go into my original windows XP English at all. Then I delete the D: Parition.
When I tried to install windows XP again, it says : Inf file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing status 16640 setup
My hard disk is Quantum Fireball1ct15-20-(PM)

I mistakenly had focused on the language aspect of your XP installation. I assumed you knew how to properly partition your drive via the installation disks for Win98 and XP. Apologies. In any event, I looked around on google and saw this gentlemens possible fix for your problem here.:

Hopefully this will work for you instead.

Hi I have solved the installation issue.
Till now, I have successful installed both operating system English and CHinese Windows XP in different partition of my hard disk.
But I still having the program here. My dos does not allow me to choose the operating system to start up. It always boot with the latest operating system installed.
Anyone can guide me on how to modify the boot.ini or command file to allow me to select which operating system to boot up with?

If I remember correctly
You need to install 98 to the C Partition or it will not run. As for XP provided that you install it to different Partitions I've yet to have a problem but you need to remember to check where it is being installed to on the first restart.

ok, i am in the same boat, my wife is chinese, i am american. first use partition magic by norton, it has a wizard for setting up ne operating sys. the tricky thing is if you put the op sys in the wrong place meaning to boot before or after c: norton pm helps with this. xp has a built in boot manager but norton has one too. i have prob installing my xp chinese because i cannot understand it and my wife knows nothing about computers. after you setup your drives for your op sys you may install with no prob, vista has a boot manager xp will or vista will list each op sys as earlier version of windows but norton boot magician will allow you to title it. the norton boot manager is tricky to install because it also require a partition, the trouble with this is if you delete the partition with norton boot manager it will not allow you to uninstall in windows because it cannot find the path.you must first uninstall it then delete the partition if you no longer need it. my opinion, use the xp version even though it does not allow you to give it a name or edit to my knowledge, good luck!
