Log in locally to the box, not with a domain account, and have the PC join a workgroup. Then go to the DC and manually remove the machine account if it still shows up.This will give you both things you're looking for. Since the machine is no longer on the domain it will have no access. Now a user could manually map to something but changing the DNS to point to an internet DNS server would solve that too.

This PS was added to a mixed domain: xxx.xxxxxxxxx.xx.xx and the domain name was too long, so it was truncated or some such thing. Anyway, I am not unable to remove the machine from that domain. How would I accomplish this. Also, how would I disable from the workstation, the ability to login to a domain.thanks,MA
