One printer - Two print servers
I'm in the middle of a discussion as to the pro's and cons of having two print servers manage the print jobs for one printer. Anyone else think this is a bad idea? I'm trying to back up my claim with some concrete evidence and was wondering what other people's views are.

Well....
Just think about the troubleshooting confusion. If jobs are not printing, which server is not sending the job?
How about the job printing order. Which server has priority?
Who is going to print thru which print server?
Now here is how you get them to bite.
Tell them that you will setup both servers but use a DNS alias to map the printers to the machines. In the event of a failure you can change the DNS entry to point to the secondary server and the users will not know there is a problem. You get the ability to control the systems as they should be and they get to say that there is no single point of failure.
Run that by the powers that be and see what they think.
Best of luck

One printer - Two print servers
I had a printer working fine when it was connected just to one print server. Now that I'm starting a print migration to another server, I added this printer in both servers (source and target servers).
So, I have your situation (one printer, two print servers) and now I'm starting with problems. Sometimes the print loses the IP address and the light of the switch port gets red (data error). I guess the error is because the printer is receiving data from two printer spoolers.
I will remove the printer from one server and if it works fine I will post the result.
