problems with windows XP installation in hp compaq nc6400 laptop

hi,

i m facing a problem with windows XP installation in hp compaq nc6400 laptop.

Whenever i try to install windows xp it shows the following message--

"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program. Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3. "

Plz someone help me on this matter.

NB. i have not found any option at my laptop's BIOS to change the SATA mode from RAID to IDE

Can the BIOS actually see the hard drive?
You could pull it out and re-seat it just to be sure.

You have a SATA Drive in that NB
To install XP you need to push the F6 Key at the first blue screen and install the SATA Drivers from the Root of a Floppy.

Failing that you could make your own Slipstreamed Install CD by following the directions here and adding the SATA Driver not SP2

Under Device Configuration in BIOS, disable the SATA Mode, and reboot after making sure the CD-ROM option is your first boot choice.

That should do it.
