Outlook Express has started a new game. Occasionally it will open a message 10-15 times with a single click. What's worse is that it won't allow all of them to be closed. In fact, it then prevents the computer from rebooting. The only way to regain control is to pull the plug! Any ideas on what might be causing this and how to correct the situation?

Have you looked at.....
... anti-virus software? Do you run it? Is it up to date? Have you scanned with it lately?
... another thing to look at is switching out the mouse. Sometimes, a mouse can go bad and send multiples of a signal (click is a signal), in other words "get stuck". Try another mouse and see if the problem goes away.
