Maybe they had been struggling with the Thumb, sent the thankyou via PM, then the Thumb happened?

I posted back thanking them for the thankyou (if that makes any sense) THEN the Thumb appeared!

Did you sacrifice the proper chicken
at the proper circle under the full moon on the correct date? And if so, were you wearing your +6 wizards hat and robe..
My guess is a version mismatch between your browser and plugins and the site.
FF or IE? What version of java/flash/ etc?

Try that chant.
It worked for The Hood, in 'Thunderbirds'.
Mind you, perhaps the absence of strings attached to your extremities is hampering your efforts!

Maybe you're stuck in a Time Warp, after all ...
It does seem like it took you 12 days to ask why you were having this problem.
Where have you been for the last 12 days?
What wondrous sights have you seen?
Can you name the portions of the Galaxy that you visited?
What is it like to be a Time Lord?
For us poor mortals, I mean.

I am a habitual procrastinator. I'll give you and answer in a minute...
Actually when it forst happened I figured they were still working out the bugs and I just made myself an action item to check back. Then I got too busy to log on for a while. As far as the portions of the galaxy I visited let's see...
Milky way
Snickers
Three Musketeers
Almond Joy...

try in here to give out the thumbs.
it is just as likely it was a glitch with the site, based upon how it has been acting lately.

When I hover my mouse over post a reply or save there is a link or a script name displayed. When I hover over Mark as Help... Nothing. I get the finger (not that one) to tell me it should be a hyperlink but nothing appears to tell me what it links to. Strange.

Are you sure you weren't holding your head off to the side a little?
Maybe chewing gum?
Sun in your ears?
Blond moment?
Oldtimers moment?
Is there anything I forgot?

I am quite puzzled...
I marked you all helpful while using Mobile FF. I really didn't change anything with my browser. (IE) and I still don't even show a hyperlink when I hover over "Mark As Helpful". Whatever, this is just going to have be be one of those things that as like the tides. They are going to happen there is nothing I can do about it... let it be.

You're one of a rare breed
complaining about not being able to hand them out. If only some of the other posters were like you it might balance out a bit. A very thoughtful post.

We are all volunteers here. The least I can do is say thanks in a public way when someone helps me out and I have been helped many times.

same problem.....
In the question I started on DVD with subtitles I found that after the site change, I couldn't give out thumbs, either!
Same thing, JJ - hover, press and nothing happens.
Also, same again, I changed browsers and found that I COULD get FF to work.
Ones that didn't work: Opera, Avant, IE7
"You are not alone" ....
GG

Should include the "feedback" tag
for something inquiring about the functionality of the site.
At one point, they kept an eye on that tag. Not sure if they do anymore or not.

I once heard that same problem discribed as an ID Ten T error.
If you write it down, it's spelled: I D 1 0 T

the x-ray department that is where they don't sit in chairs we always tell them there is a short between the floor and the keyboard. It would be interesting to start a thread to see how many different ones are out there.
