Read Only

I used some fonts with restricted licences (recipient can view but not edit the doc) and clicked on "Embed TrueType fonts" thinking that the read-only restriction would not apply to my machine. And for months that was the case - I could open and edit the file. But yesterday I was locked out. I couldn't even delete text in the restricted-use fonts. Fortunately I had backups on another machine where "Embed TrueType fonts" was not ticked, so I could remove the Style on those sections. But if I had not had that facility, would there have been a workaround to get rid of those fonts and the read-only status along with it?
