when opening a microsoft office file from its shortcut albeit in a folder, on the desktop, the following error message comes up "cannot find the file c:\blah\blah\yada.xls or one of its components. make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available."
this is the problem im having and it would be great if i could get an answer

Delete
the desktop shortcut and navigate to the folder and right click on the file and select Send to Desktop as a shortcut.
