Hey,
I'm attempting to connect a serial to Ethernet device server to our customer's network...the XP Pro machine that is nearby has a wireless USB adapter and a disabled on board NIC. Is there any way that I can enable InernetConnectionSharing to look out to the wireless connection as the primary and then share out the on board NIC to act as a 'port' for our device server. Our real issue is that we need to physically connect the Ethernet cable from the device server to the on board NIC in order to get onto the network. Is this even possible? The only other option I can think of is for them to purchase a Wireless Ethernet Bridge.

ICS could work maybe
You would need a crossover cable or a switch in between the two ethernet interfaces to get them to connect to one another.
If you can get Windows to see the interfaces, ICS should be able to use them.

HOWEVER, ICS does not work real well, so I would recommend a WLAN bridge. The ICS would not work if the PC is off, and it tends not to be super stable.
There is a registry hack in XP that allows it to route between interfaces....

I think you can bridge them "keyword: think"
If I'm on the right track, here's what you do. Open up the "network connections" in Control Panel. Enable the wired connection by clicking on it. Once it's enabled, highlight the wired and wireless connections. Then go to "Advanced" on the menu bar and choose "Bridge Connections". This will actually create a new entry in the Connections called "Network Bridge" or something similar.
I'm not absolutely certain it will enable your serial-to-ethernet to work with the wireless, but it's worth a shot before buying a new device.
FYI - in XP Help, search "Network Bridge" and "Bridge Connections" for more info. For instance, it says you can not use ICS with a network bridge. Just thought I'd throw that in.
