I have been looking the past few weeks for a software program that will give me nice invoices and billing for my clients, let me keep track of their systems hardware/software etc...
I tried Quickbooks 09, but its filled with way too much overhead.. I dont deal with seperate bank accounts and taxing forms etc... There is this software:

but its $200! I dont wanna spend that much on a simple thing.. I have tried a multitude of other software, like Snappy invoice, but none of them give me exactly what i need...
Do any of you consultants out there find something perfect to fit the niche? or am i relegated to keeping crappy excel invoices?

I appreciate the effort and information, i checked both those programs, and they are of the "Create a file, put it in a directory, and now you have 1000 spreadsheets in that directory" type...
I'm in more need of a database program.. An executable which will run, and perhaps i can even run remotley, and store all my information so i can look things up and so on..
Its a greay area.. im too small for a corporate type product, but too big for simple spreadsheets.

I will check them out and see if they can taylor to my needs, but i even just looked at Invoice n Cashbook 2007, and while it has good points, somethin about it isn't right..
I can't believe there isnt a product specifically for the IT Field for tracking customers, and systems inventories..
It doesnt have to be free, ill pay some money for it, just not over say $60!

Try looking at Freshbooks. It's pretty cool. It creates invoices, keeps track of billing time, let's you email invoices, tracks when someone opens it, etc. It allows you to provide estimates and monitors hits on your estimates which can sometimes be an indication of "nibbles". There is a charge though- I believe the cheapest version is $25/month as it is hosted by a service.
