Other IT Career Avenues

I am currently working for a local VAR and plan on making the transition from the SE (Sales Engineer) side to the full on network/security side in a little under a year.

My question to all...what other interesting and rewarding positions existing with this area of IT? I have also considered project management but would like the opinions of IT professionals who have held various positions within the "world" of IT. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
