Well ...
I've got severely limited knowledge of Vista (mainly because I detest it) but in Windows 7, the 'Add/Remove' utility has been renamed as Programs and Features - Maybe it's the same in Vista.

But I can't find the Add/Remove Windows Components or the similar.

It's sitting on its own in the left hand column (again that's in Windows 7).

I did go into that option and I supposed that wasn't for installing or uninstalling Windows features like what previous Windows did but turning them on or off. Moreover I didn't see all Windows features such as those under Accessories. How are we supposed to deal with those not set out in there?

You supposed wrong, didn't you.
As you have previously posted:
"Accessories and Utilities, Fax Services, Indexing Services, Internet Explorer and so on. Where are they? "
Well, in 'Turns Windows features on or off' (which is rather self-explanatory, don't you think?) you will find:
#1 - Indexing Services
#2 - Internet Explorer XX
#3 - Print and Document Services (with a '+' sign!)
#4 - Windows Fax and Scan (inside Print and Document Services - that's what the + sign is for!)
Did you try turning something OFF or did you just assume it wouldn't do what you wanted?
Which particular "Windows features such as those under Accessories" are you searching for, or are you just annoyed because Uncle Bill's blokes have changed the layout?

Internet Explorer in there. Are you still looking at Windows 7?

IE8 is sitting in there, resplendent in all its glory (totally unused by me though).
Whenever I attempt to remove the tick in its little box, I get the following:
Turning off Internet Explorer 8 may affect other Windows features and applications installed on your computer prolly Update !!
Which tends to promote the rather obvious question:
WTF is there a tickable box then??!!

When the European version of Windows 7 is released WITHOUT IE* (* being 'anything').
If M$ has to cow down to the European Commission, how will Windows 7 updates be handled. Will the IE stranglehold finally be officially broken?
One can hope ...
Not to mention Uncle Bill's present predicament with being told he can't monopolise Office any more because of the ban on selling WORD !!

if I want to double-check FF on something. Like page load errors...
It's here, but barely used. With this Vista version of Windows Update, I wonder if a person could get rid of it if said person had the option?

Look in
Unlike Windows XP as it uses the Add & Remove programs, in Windows Vista it was revised to Programs & Features. Generally its just the same with Windows 7 on this part.

Programs and Features\Turn Windows Features On or Off.
It takes awhile to load, but once it does, Windows Fax and Scan is there, as is Indexing Services.
Some things listed here can only be found by expanding the tree.
I don't see Internet Explorer in there. Whether or not that's because I'm using a campus computer, I don't know, but I'll check when I get home.

Can't find Internet Explorer on my own machine under an Admin account.
Keep in mind, MS is a pig who has been under constant scrutiny, as well as in court for monopolistic business practice/s. Betting this is another of those...

Well, not everything is there. I can't explain it. Perhaps we still miss something somewhere.
