No
No it is not possible. You will have to change the laptop.

Maybe
But it all depends on the M'Board and who made the NB.

The Clevo Series of NB's are 64 But that can have the CPU changed within that family as required but some of the Dell, HP, and so on have the CPU's soldered to the M'Board and these are not possible to change.

But no matter what the M'Board must support 64 Bit Processing before you can consider changing the CPU to one that does.

Why bother?
With the current cost of new laptops versus the cost of a new processor plus the labor required for installation; it becomes a no-brainer to just go out and buy a new one, transfer your files and resume computing on a newer box which will probably have more storage as well as being faster.

Stuck with a 64 bit win 7 ultimate
I just was wondering. I may be stuck with a 64 bit Win 7 Ultimate OS disk that I got as a student. If JourneyEd.com wont take it back, then I'll have to buy the 32 bit version.

I got suckered into this one! JourneyEd said to check with Microsoft and Microsoft said all Win 7's come 32 & 64 but for some reason JourneyEd only has 64 bit Win 7 Ultimate and JourneyEd's website clearly states 64 bit OS so. Who do you believe in a situation like that? JourneyEd referred me to MS for info and they where incorrect and MS is telling me to deal with JourneyEd! I am awaiting a supervisor to call me back... =( we will see!!!

At least that's what I was told when I placed my pre-order.

If, come post-22nd October, my delivery doesn't contain both 32-bit and 64-bit installers, there'll be hell to pay!

The JourneyEd website features both flavours individually.

Odd that they're selling them separately when M$ packs them bundled.

Well thats amazing considering I know how to use the search option! It has just been put on there site since I called them Friday... I researched this diligently considering I am upgrading my RAM, my hard drive, and my OS.... I've asked all the questions, my other post would confer that there is no way I simply clicked the wrong one, let it sit in my cart, and emailed journeyEd.com a few times for info without knowing that there were 2 options available from this site!

is just clueless. Perhaps for some reason only 64 was mentioned the site, neglecting to mention 32-bit.

Do you already have this disc, and attempted installs indicate that 32-bit is not available in some manner?

If not, wait and see.
