Is F12 better then CentOS5?

Hi All,

I have a Server with 8GB RAM and intel Xeon Quad Core processor and i have CentOS 5 installed on it. How about i change the OS to F12. This server is used for taking automated backups every night using cron jobs and thats the only purpose.

Can you please post your suggestions on this?

That will work but as F12 is relatively new
There may be issues yet to be worked out. For Production Environments where Machine Up Tine is Important I dislike changes for the sake of change. It's bound to cause problems.

But if you just need a new server and can retain the existing one for some time fitting a new server and duplicating what the CENT OS is doing wouldn't hurt. That way if something goes wrong you still have the working CENT Unit to fall back on.

I would never recommend pulling one server out of service and fitting another weather that is physically change the server to a new one or just the OS as it costs way too much to fix the things that do go wrong and int he case of a Backup Server trying to recreate Data is extremely expensive. wink
