53yr old Technician - School for A and Net -Jobless

I just completed A+ and Net+ cert prep courses. I've been a technician for years, mostly audio. I did touch on CobraNet for sound systems when I was working at JBL Professional. I thought by going to school and getting certified (which I haven't yet) would get me a job. I'm 53 years old and live in the middle of Arizona - literally. So, I'm thinking maybe I should get Cisco certified or stay in the audio field which is really competitive. Just don't know. I feel I've wasted time and money on those courses. Any idea's?

67 Yr old IT Professional
Forget Cisco. They discriminate terribly. I was downsized at age 54 and they were the worst of the insults I recieved while job searching. There are a lot of really better companies to work for out there. Just keep plugging. Most IT hiring managers are looking for the quintessential 13 year old genius with 20 yrs experience. i.e. not too bright there.. But there are opportunities. Just keep trying. I was able to work in IT till I was 63. I quit because of the poor quality leadership of the 13 year olds.

Good luck.
