Changing IE Settings should work
Hi acel317,

From your posting, I understand you are getting DNS error while trying to access the web and trouble with Internet Explorer browser too

In most cases, DNS issues can be fixed by accessing the browser's options and correcting its settings.

1) Open your Internet Explorer Browser

2) Click on the 'Tools' option at the top of your Internet Explorer screen. Next, click on 'Internet Options' followed by 'Security Tab.' In the Security Tab, click on the 'Custom Level' tab located at the bottom of the screen.

3) Check the 'Medium' security level drop down box once on the 'Custom Level' screen. You will also need to browse through the options, find the setting 'Access Data Across Domains' and put a check in that box to enable the feature. Finally choose the 'Apply' option and then exist the program.

4) Close and reopen your Internet Explorer browser and try to navigate to a website. You should now be able to load pages. If it is still unable to load, try restarting your computer, as some changes don't always take effect immediately upon applying them.

Zone Alarm?
If you are using Zone Alarm firewall, that may be the problem.

Does your email client and other applications like Windows Update and Itunes still work when you loose the ability to browse?
And, does your ability to browse come back after you reboot?

If so, there is a bug in some versions of Zone Alarm that randomly blocks web browsing. I have not verified it since I manually updated Zone Alarm on my laptop. But, I believe the newer version will correct the problem.
