How to configure proxy server?

I want to configure a proxy server for my network, where all network applications have to pass through it. Can anybody help me out and guide me with how to do the configuration?

Please reply as soon as possible, as I have limited time to finish it up.

Thanks

Hmm
First of all what OS are you using. For our companies proxy server I use SQUID (http://www.squid-cache.org/) on CentOS (http://www.centos.org/) which works fairly well.

I also use Webmin (http://www.webmin.com/) to add blocked websites to the listing. All in all I haven't really had any problems in doing this.

I would also set in the router to only allow traffic onto the internet if they use the proxy server.
