How to remove Windows Defender from Win 7?
Client purchased a new Toshiba L655D-S5066 laptop with Windows 7 OS installed. Nice machine! After installing aps, configuring them and transferring files to it from her old laptop, I installed AVG 9.0 free and configured that. All was well. I then tried to uninstall Windows Defender and found that it was not listed in the add/remove listing. It was not active, so I tried to activate it in order to remove it. No luck. I suspect that it should have been removed before installing ACG 9.0 free, but I am not sure. Before I continue, I would like your input. Any suggestions?

Don't know for sure...
Where I'm located, it has not been made available yet.
However, I'd have a look:
1. Among "Turn Windows features on or off" or
2. under "View installed updates"
I also recall reading somewhere that Defender won't be active if another program is taking care of the corresponding function.

It appears that installing an alternative A/V-A/S application, in my case AVG, causes Windows Defender to be disabled in Win 7. Don't know if updates and "nags" will also cease, but will take this one step at a time. Would rather uninstall WinDef, but if it is closely integrated into Win 7, it may be best not to try. Thanks for suggestions
