XP not powering off

I have installed XP on a PC that had Windows 98 on it. With W98 when you went start--turn off computer--shutdown. The computer automatically switched off.

Now with XP I get a screen saying " it is now sake to turn the computer off"

I have enabled the Advanced power setting in the bios.

Any ideas??

This is a direct result of the M'Board involved
You need to turn off the Power Switch on the front of the system. This happened a lot with XT power Supplies but it also happened with some ATX Systems.

Sorry but there is no way around this you have to switch off the system. If you have the latest BIOS installed. If you don't have the newest BIOS for this M'Board installed you'll need to download and install it if it's still available. wink
