Microsoft Update

How can I know that my xp/2003/Windows 7 machines are patched upto the latest updates issued by Microsoft update.

Tell me both GUI and command base methods.

Thanks

The GUI method is to use Internet Explorer
and perform 'check for updates'. If it returns the result 'your system is up to date', you're good.

As far as I know, the only way to do anything with the command line is if you are using a Microsoft server and are using the WSUS (windows server update service) utility program.
