What's with your online contact G-Man talking about train wrecks in a heated discussion about 4G marketing ploys online today? Can you speak for him? If not, I'd please strongly suggest you cut the connection you have with him or get him to take back what he typed.

thanks. But my heart goes out to the families that have lost loved ones. We have had a terrible time over here with the floods and its not over yet.

One of those who died was found 80 K that's 50 Miles for those not aware of what Metric means away from where they disappeared in the water.
That's one hell of a downpour to cause something like that to happen.

But I have some first hand knowledge. Thats pretty darned far.
When I was in grade 9, one of my school mates for three years, did something tragically stupid. He lived near a dam in the river that went through the city, and eventually to a place near my house in the country.
It was April and due to the snow melt the river was very high and fast. He decided to run the dam in a rubber boat. Now I've seen canoists run over the dam in mid summer when the water is slow and much lower. But I wouldn't even put my canoe in the water for weeks after, just too fast (unless you are a whitewater expert). He and a friend put a small cheap rubber boat in the water above the dam and went over. The boat flipped and they were pulled under. No life jackets.
They were not found till a week later, when the river levels lowered and things slowed. They were found by one of my neighbours, near my house. We lived on a section after an oxbow, which slows down the current alot. Total distance by river, probably 6 or 7 kilometres. My younger brother who was about 10 at the time saw something in the water, but as soon as the neighbour recognized what it was, he forced him to get away from the riverbank.

and a lot more stories unfolding as time goes by. All of this water from up here will inundate a couple of states to our south.

We can not afford it. If we get hit by a Cyclone or Monsoon we could be in a far worse position than we have already been.
At least those down south are getting a lot of warning, not that that helps much.

No I don't think so
G-Man has you listed as a contact.
And G-Man did "diss" someone who dissed someone in a thread about 4G networks/AT&T and T-Mobile.
But what a bizarre email. I don't think any people here can speak for me, and I've met many in person (some more than once). Nor would I expect any of my contacts to try to censor me or get me to retract a post, especially something so innocuous.
I will admit I sometimes find G-Man abrasive, but in this case he was mirroring the behaviour of the person he replied to.

but I have no contacts
and when I look into my profile it doesn't list anyone who has added me
the only indication I have when someone has added me is the "my updates" section:
"xyz has added you as a contact"
but when 7 days have past, that notification vanishes and there's no indication in my profile as to who has me as a contact
because, I wasn't involved in the discussion,
looks like maybe a case of profile trolling

Yo Tammy!!!!!!
Tammy can tell which member has sent these emails. To me this borders on harassment which clearly contravenes the terms of use of this site. Should be good for a warning.

That there is only one person that G Man dissed in that email, and that Qasimara is hiding behind a pre-existing nom de plume.

I must be unloved
I didn't get one of those.
Here as you where not on line I'm assuming that someone most likely G Man has added you as a Contact or someone else who was involved in that thread that may have sort of agreed with the G Man has been targeted by someone upset, Peeved Off or whatever.
But from the Sentence Construction I think you'll find that Qasimara isn't a English Speaker or at the very least isn't a person with English as a Primary Language.
It's close but not quite right.
Personally I would ignore it but that is maybe just me.
I don't feed the Trolls unless I want some light relief and a laugh.

Thank you for finding this important bug
This is a bug in the site. The private message feature should only be available when two users are both following each other. Unfortunately, what appears to be happening is that as soon as someone starts following you as a contact, they are able to private message you.
We will work to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
As a temporary workaround, you can disable private messaging by:
- Go to Preferences, http://www.techrepublic.com/members/preferences/
- Check "No" under the Contact Permissions section
- Save your changes.
Once again, thank you for reporting this issue and we appreciate your patience while we work to resolve it.

This is now fixed
Thank you again for bringing this bug to our attention. The fix has deployed live and this should no longer be an issue for our users. Now, in order to send/receive private messages, both users must be following each other.
