You can't mark 'helpful', but you can select an answer as "the answer". Look at the left hand lower edge of each answer post.

Or I can answer the question
the thumbs she had are gone, and so are mine.
Can you spare a thumb?
I think you can give something by voting my answer in a + direction, if you and enough people vote in a - direction, my post will disappear.

collapse, not disappear
You can still read it by clicking the + symbol to expand the collapsed post... but we're hoping most people don't. That way, people who write ridiculous or offensive things will eventually be ignored.

I may be in the minority, but ridiculous and (some) offensive things often crack me up. I'll most likely be viewing them.

So it's official I's been robbed
That's just not good enough.
Now I'll have to send Luigi to have a very long talk to Jason to get this sorted out.
OH and Darryl here are some Thumbs just for you.
Now what am I going to do with that new freezer that I've just bought to store all the new Thumbs that I get?
And to those who's Thumbs I already have No I'm not giving them back.
Edited to add Someone better tell Boxy AKA Davette that when you apply an edit the Formatting goes away.

Heaven knows
Where this response will end up, not being clear to me at the moment.
What is clear, is that to Colin's Luigi, I will add my Guido. Somebody else I know may add her chainsaw.

Well at the moment
I've been keeping HAL away from the Air Lock Controls as that is a fairly permanent solution that may not get the desired results.
Actually I'm still trying to work out how to navigate this new site and make things work the way that I'm used to. Now all I have to work out is how to Subscribe to Threads that I have not made a post to.

It looks like Thumbs have gone the way of TR Points
That is, to the bit bucket.

The thumbs up as we knew them
Are indeed gone. Now it looks like we have OH Smeg or Hal 9000 distributing them at an obscene rate!
In all seriousness, our plan is to eventually offer "reputation points" based on the current Voting system... answering questions correctly will get you "x" amount of points. There will be some sort of tier system that grants privileges to folks the more points they accumulate.
When we were creating the specs for this new system, we did talk about members who had a lot of thumbs and if they'll be compensated in some way when this new feature is rolled out. I can't promise anything, but perhaps...
Hope that helps!

So now how do we indicate the correct answer?

I agree I worked hard for those Thumbs
So why were they removed, now we no longer hold a rating for our good answers? or how are the ratings for the members kept?

I've been using 'Ask for clarification', and it appears that is what others are doing as well. Of course, in a tech question, whoever does that won't be able to get a vote... I've posted in the official thread that maybe they ought to a 'Reply' button in the Ask for, Flag, Favortie line.

Has to do with the new Zodiac that Science isn't selling to the Astrologically inclined.
It's very very technical, but luckily it's all strictly on a need to know basis.

Base ten, as it was written "forty-two". AFAIK, there are no names for numbers outside the base ten system.
seanferd
25th Jan 2011
That depends on whether we think of the "name" of a number as a productive or not. If it's calcified then it can be expanded beyond "four tens and two" into meaning "four of the first order and two of the null order" of any number system in which such makes sense (i.e. more than quaternary).
