I have two users that both have win7 pro x64 with outlook 2003 and eScan anti-virus.
They regularly receive mails with attachments in an undecrypted state, the weird thing is that if they download the same mail from their smartphones then they come through just fine so it must be a setting that I have missed but I just can't find it. It occurs with all sorts of attachments such as .pdf, .xls, .jpg etc...
Does anyone know the solution?

How do I stop receiving un-encoded base64 mails?

It's an issue with the message headers and Mime versions
Outlook can be picky when it comes to variations in the
message headers,while most smart phones are smarter than that.
To clarify, it's not encrypted or decrypted, is encoded or un-encoded. There is a line in the message header that says something like:
Mime-Version: 1.0 (Apple Message framework v623)
Your problem may be tricky to fix, because the real problem is that the sender of the email is adding something odd to the message header. More specifically, they are sending an email with a MIME encoding scheme invented after 2003.
There may be a service pack for Outlook from Microsoft that fixes this.

Unfortunately outlook 2003 is patched to sp3 with all the latest updates coming through from my WSUS server. What's odd is that machines running outlook 2003 on xp are not experiencing this problem.
