You can definitly try
If you cant do it with the Software avaiable (R studio, Recurva, ontrack software) you can try data recover services (if its that important to you.), like Kroll Ontrack, http://www.krollontrack.com/data-recovery/

Easy answer is most likely no you can not
What is required after use is what is called a Forensic Recovery where the HDD is dismantled the Platters Removed and the data read directly off the platters. This is not something that is done with a software application.
You can however try some Forensic Data Recovery programs if the data isn't Important to recover. However if the data is IMPORTANT you should stop using the drive IMMEDIATELY and pack it up and send it to a Forensic Recovery Specialist.
If it would just be Nice to recover some of the data you cat try one of these programs. This is a short list however there are others available but you really should look for Forensic Recovery Type Applications and Never write anything to the HDD during the process. Save any recovered Data to another Drive and under no circumstances write anything to this drive.

While the last 2 are from the same company they are very different products. Win Hex should only be considered foe use by someone who knows Hex Inside Out while Davory is a great cheap General Purpose Application.
Personally I prefer the On Track Option but it's anything but cheap. However because I use this type of software a lot it's paid for itself many times over by now, for a cheaper option Spin Rite from Gibson Research or Stella have both very good reputations by other TR members.
This one has also been recommended by some people here on TR but I have no personal experience with it or how well it may or may not work
