The VPN connection is PPTP using ADSL to a Head Office. The Head Office also uses ADSL 10Mbps down, 768Kbps up. There is no problem establishing connection using "dyndns", but sometimes apps work fine, then whenever I try to re-open the same apps, it is slow to respond.
One database application uses a web browser (IE8 or Firefox) to login but even that has a slow response.
I am thinking that the server may be responsible. (DELL Poweredge Duo Core 3060 Xeon Processor 840 4GB DDR2 667MHz. Can anyone suggest a possible solution?

Troubleshooting
Anthony,
- Is this happening on specific time (ex: when your colleagues in the office).
- Are there several users who use VPN at the same time.
- Do you have any other devices on your network that affects your bandwidth.
- Have you tried to untick option "Use default gateway on remote network" in VPN settings on your PC for testing.
ADSL is optimised for fast download speeds.

Hi Clidash.
The VPN connection is only made to access reports, print then logoff. But when I tested it, no other users were accessing the VPN.
NOTES:
The VPN server also provides internet access for the Head Office network;
The 'Use default gateway on remote network' option is unchecked;
However, I am also running GFI Web Monitor and AVG Internet Security;
I am checking the server for memory or processor performance issues (Task Manager does not help at all);
The previous version of the database with a GUI did not have this problem so could IIS on the server cause slow performance?

Troubleshooting
Anthony,
Can you try to access reports from a PC in the local network in the office, to troubleshoot if it's network performance or hardware performance.
- Access GUI locally on server.
- Reboot / restart IIS service.
- Compare Hardware Requirements for the software you use.
Check out Process Explorer for detailed monitoring (free):

Thanks.
I'll download it now and give you a heads up by this evening.
No issues with local network performance when accessing reports.
Database was built in MS Access but .mdb file is currently 526MB and growing.
