How to give permission to a share folder?

I have a little network at home. There are 7 PC all together.
I am sharing a folder that everybody can access to files on it. However I need to control the access that some computers only can read it without any right to change files while other have full permission.
I have been reading a lot of blog, but none explains how to set different levels of permission.

Clarifications

This task requires just a bit more information. What are the operating systems of the client computers and more importantly, what is the operating system being utilized on the machine where the share resides?
This is particularly important as many versions of Windows have this ability deliberately disabled.
