VPN
A VPN is a virtual private network. What that means is that in order to get into a business's private part of their internet, they have to travel through a "tunnel" because of the security they have set. It's basically an extra layer of security.

Virtual Private Network
A VPN supplies network connectivity over a long physical distance. VPNs enable file sharing, video conferencing and similar network services. A key feature of a VPN is it's ability to work over both private networks as well as public networks like the Internet.

a VPN supports at least three different modes of use:

???Internet remote access client connections
???LAN-to-LAN internetworking
???Controlled access within an intranet

I hope i was of some help to you.
