Backup Of PC's over the Network

Hi
I want to backup my client computers on my network automatically to my Win 2008 Server Machine. Clients using win xp and win7. I have a small network of 20 pc's. I dont want to use cloud and expensive backup software.

Just give the users a shared drive
And let them know only that data on the shared drive will get backed up, problem solved.

Symantec Backup Exec works very well; if there is value in backing up the data, than there is a cost-benefit to purchasing a solution that works well for that specific purpose.

Depends on what you want to backup
If you mean the user data they may store locally you could always create a small batch file that uses robocopy or similar to copy their my documents folder and desktop to a network share and then use the local task scheduler to run it at whatever time. You would need to consider whether you want to overwrite the files each run or manually manage the versions though if you do it that way. Wouldn't recommend that method for a full unit backup though.
