can't do a vista windows recovery with new sata hard drive installed

I have an hp pavillion a6554f. I just installed a SATA ST1000 DM003 hard drive. I then ordered recovery disks (windows vista) from HP. When I try installing the software it takes all the disks and windows goes to load up in the final stage I get a message windows does not recognize hardware. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Clarifications

Does the system boot from the hard drive now with this message? What options are you given?

Try Google
Note down the exact error message and type it in to Google. I'm sure others have had the same error and there are likely to be answers out there. Without having the exact error message there's not much anyone can do.

when you put in the recovery CD
did it ask if you had drivers for the hard drive that you wanted to install? Also, since you just got these disks from HP why not ask them as they may have the quick simple fix for it.

Format New H/Drive
If the H/Drive is Brand New it will not have any partition table on it. Without a partition table on it Windows will not be able to see the Hard Drive. So to get Windows to see the H/Drive you will have to put a partition table onto the H/Drive. Ither with another Windows PC or with a Linux Live CD that has Gparted or any other live CD/DVD that has a Partitioning program on it.

This shouldn't be needed. All the recovery disks I've ever used were able to do partitioning for you.
