docx files stored on my server turned to tmp files
My "My Documents" folder has lived on our server for years. Recently we purchased new workstations with windows 7 pro and office 2010. I connected everyone to their folder, and we went forward. The other day, I lost the ability to connect to several folders on the server, and I decided to reboot the server and workstation. After the reboot, I could connect to the folders, but most of my docx files were now gone, and in their place were a bunch of randomly named tmp files. I tried to rename them, and to recover the data, to no avail.

Probably a virus
What security software are you running on the server?
You can perhaps repair the files using these steps:
Follow these steps to force Word to recover the document:1.Follow one of these steps, depending on the version of Word that you use:If you use Word 2007: Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Open.
If you use Word 2003: Click Open on the File menu.
2.In the Files of type list, click All Files (*.*).
3.In the Open dialog box, select the document.
4.Click the down arrow on the Open button in the lower-right corner of the Open screen, and then click Open and Repair.
