How do I restore Exchange Emails from the server?

I was trying to fix an email account that was using Exchange Server to run their emails. They were having problems with it so I removed the account and created a new one. In the process, it removed all the emails on the computer. How can I recover these emails?

I found a similar solution on this site discussing how to save them locally before the step I took. I am hoping to reconnect to these stranded emails, then drag them into a local folder, then remove the account. I just dont want to destroy the old data when I recreate the account as there is a lot of important messages in there.

Create a dummy AD account and reconnect to the Exchange data
Use AD admin to create a dummy account (without creating Exchange account), then use Exchange admin to connect the newly created AD account to the used Exchange mail data object.
