Connecting Android devices to Windows networks

I have a Windows network (Windows 2008 R2 server, Windows clients including Windows 7 & 8) and this all works perfectly. I also have an Android device that I want to use to browse shares set up on the Windows server. I can manage this but I get, apparently random, disconnects from the network and have to get the Android device to re-authenticate.

I'm sure this must be something to do with the Windows security model - the Authentication only being valid for a limited time before it needs to be renewed. But I can't work out how to extend this or stop it from killing the connection. It's not normally a problem but if I want to stream media from the Windows server to the Android the disconnect gets very frustrating.

Can anyone suggest a way to get around this?

Thanks.

Is there an app android or ios that will let you authenticate to Active Directory? I think this is what is holding up tablets in the work place.
I'm using ES File explorer already but still get the problem that my connection is terminated after anything from 10 to 30 minutes. I need something that will maintain a connection for a much longer time period.
