i can not format my pen drive.

when i click on removable disk , a dialogue box appears that disk is not formatted? do you want to format now ? and when i click to format then it tells me that , my pen drive is not accessible. and also " the volume dose not contain a recognize file system."
is it crashed? it is a 8 GB pen drive,transcend.
