Windows7 stops the print spooler and then it appears no printers installed

Windows7 stops the print spooler and then it appears that there are no printers installed. When I restart the print spooler in services, all to the network printers reappear in Devices and Printers. When I try to print, the drivers disappear and MS Office says no printers are installed. After some time with the print spooler running, something stops it again.

Job caught in spooler
Most likely your print spooler is off and won't turn back on.
Go into the \windows\system32\spool \printers folder and empty it.
Restart the print spooler.
Most likely [from what I've seen] some oddly created PDF caused the problem. Seen it with stuff scanned to PDF. Try Foxit Reader if using Acrobat/Adobe Reader.

I have the same problem. It looks like the printers folder is already empty but can't start spooler???? Any other ideas that could help?
