a small window opens up when I try to use IE 8

I have gone to Microsoft fix it center and have run all the fixes it suggested. But I continue to receive the error. The only way to close down IE is to reboot.

This could be a symptom of a malware infection...
you should probably restart in safe mode and run a scan with your antivirus
scanner, then follow that with a scan using MalwareBytes Antimalware scanner.
Let them clean any malware/trojans/virus that is detected, then restart your
computer. You may have to use System Restore to return to a last known
good configuration, if it was saved.
