how to uninstall MSE?

i have MSE installed when i decided to switch to kaspersky. during its process it detected incompatibility due to the 'mse' so i click on the remove button and after awhile it says kaspersky successfully removed the 'mse' when i click on next button it does not proceed and keep coming back with the remove 'mse'. when i check into the add/remove programs mse still there and so i click on uninstall but it has this message "uninstall error" cannot complete uninstall wizard. an error has prevented the security essentials uninstall wizard from continuing. please restart your computer and try again. i did reboot already a couple times and nothing happens. can anyone please help. thank you.

I would suggest reinstalling MSE
Then open the Control Panel and remove it from the Add Remove Programs before you start installing kaspersky.

Just to be on the safe side of things I would also reboot the system after you finish the removal process and before you start installing kaspersky

try removing it in safe mode?

i have tried removing it in safe mode. i get the same error. and i have tried MS FixIt it is nothing there. the MSE is no longer active. its status is off. and the windows defender is back on because when i have MSE activated it automatically turned off the windows defender due to its real time protection on. mse status is off but i want to get rid of it in the installed program but it cannot be deleted. how i can i delete it completely. thanks for all the help.

There's an MS FixIt
There's a FixIt in KB2483120. (It includes manual removal steps too).

IMX: Kaspersky security software
installers have always insisted that they find other security software on a computer and refuse to install. But Kaspersky has seldom been clever enough to disclose any useful data to enable me to identify which file(s) or registry key(s), etc., cause it to refuse to install, so that I might labor to remove them.

Succinctly, install Kaspersky only on a computer that has never had any other security software installed or activated, including Windows Firewall. Else, installing it is likely to require wiping the HDD and re-installing Windows, followed by installing Kaspersky's software, then re-installing all of the software that you use which isn't already installed by Windows, and restoring all of your data files from backup.

Is Kaspersky worth all of that trouble? Frankly, I will never know. I don't keep any user-hostile software on my computer.
