CCNP Certification
I am interested in a position that requires a Cisco CCNP Certification. I am an Oracle PL/SQL developer with no formal network training. I need to accomplish this in two years or less. I would like to hear from anyone who has the certification as to whether or not they think this is possible. I learn quick and have always had an interest in Networking and Hardware.

First of all, I applaud you for asking the question. I don't know why you want to change from developing to networking. Have you considered SYBASE/Powerbuilder or even SAP.
The reason why I say this is because of the change required. Just because a position requires a CCNP, it doesn't just require that. They want evidence of your skills being demonstrated or implemented in your current/previos role. I.e, they'll ask for 2-4 years experience etc..
The Cisco Certifications are even harder than they were before. Cisco bases the exams on hardcore experience coupled with real-life troubleshooting.
I'm not trying to discourage you. I'm just trying to let you know what is involved.
However, anything is possible it just depends on how badly you want it.
Since you are new to networking I would get hold of the following book:
Cisco a beginner's guide
ISBN: 0072133392.
The CCNA is a prerequisite for the CCNP.
2 years is plenty of time with the right training.

That is a steep hill to climb that fast
A lot of people would conpletely new to networking would be hard pressed to get just the CCNA, which is mostly terminology and new ideas.
Then you get to CCNP, you have to REALLY know a lot.
There are quite a few routing protocols you will need to know inside and out. How to set them up, how to tweek them for your traffic shaping and performance, and how to trouble shoot them.
You also need to know about the different types of network you may go over. Frame Relay, ISDN, DSL, Dialup. Again, setup/tweek/troubleshoot.
If you are real good with picking up terms it is possible.
You will have to have the equipment to learn on, either buying the equipment for a "lab" or taking classes.
This is something you will NEED the hands on.

u r ready to learn hardware&networking ,before that u must learn the basic of hardware and network,for every technology the basic or fundamental is important ,all the best for CCNP certification
