I've been certified as an MCSE on NT4 since 1999. I am now considering more certification, and am not sure which track to pursue. I have a limited interest in programming, an intense interest in networking, and strong interest in hardware. This leaves me with 3 options to my view: MCSD, MCSE 2K, or A+. I'd like to get a few opinions on what you guys think is the most appropriate track to take based on developing trends. Thank you all in advance.

Certs that leave a bad taste in your mou
A+ and N+ are good basic certs.It shows you have a broad understanding of the concepts.
If you're more interested in the LAN-type of networking, then MCSE2K would be good since most LAN networks will be moving in this direction and it will show athorough understanding of MS networking concepts.
If you're more interested in WAN-type of networking, I'd stick with a CISCO certs.
Just remember that certs are just that... certifications. It doesn't come close to substituting for real-world experience.

Experience is what counts
I think the whole certs thing has really been over-hyped.
I work for a very successful company. Even though there are a few MCSEs, most of us are either not certified or have an MCP. However we do have a lot of field experience.
Our company does not really push certs. They are more interested in people with experience and who can think outside the box.
Most situations are handled this way;
They give us the problem or project and the date we need to solve or complete it by. They give us thelattitude to use whatever resources we needed providing it does not violate our security.
This in part is why our company has done so well.
I came here from a company that required certs. Most of the people they hire are fresh out of MCSE or some other certification preperation school. Most of these people cannot handle the work because they keep trying to relate it to just what was taught in class which rarely reflects the real world. As a result they were always having trouble meeting deadlines on projects.
I firmly believe most certs is nothing more than a vehicle for the parent company to milk more money.
