Cannot Delete File, Name Too Long

I am deleting a few users folder and I am getting this error message "Cannot Delete file: The filename you specified is invalid or too long. Specify a different filename". These files are in the User home directory, Windows, Temporary Internet Files. I tried changing the file name but it won't let me and it does not give me any error. I don't want to reformat the Drive.

You might want to try deleting the file from the command line, using the 8.3-char name. Another thing to try is using the 16-bit Winfile (the old win3.1 file manager. It can also do the trick. If this doesn't work, you might want to ry WinCommander. It's very good and often succeeds where the regular explorer fails. It is one shareware I really recommend getting for your personal arsenal.

Did you try emptying the folder using Explorer? Open Internet Explorer. Click on Tools->Internet Options. Go to the General tab. There is a section about halfway down that says Temporary Internet Files. Click on Delete Files button. Make sure you check the box for deleting offline content.
Click OK (or apply) until all screens clear.

Cannot delete file
If you are facing with this kind of problem, instead of renaming the file so you can delete it, it's better to use a third party app like Long Path Tool. This software can also solve issues Error 1320 in Windows 7.
