You need to go the the makers web site and download the proper drivers, if this is on the M'Board you'll need to go to either the M'Board maker and download the USB driver from there or if this is a prebuilt system go to the makers web site and find the model downloads and download the USB driver from there so you can install it latter.

What version of Windows are you running and is this USB 1.1 or 2.0. If you are running XP then simply delete the device from the device manager and then reboot - this should re-install it. If you are using other versions of Windows then navigate to the manufacturer's website and download the needed drivers for your USB device. Hope that helps.

While you are at the motherboard site, get the Chipset drivers also. Sounds like they are not properly installed if it isn't finding the USB controller.
It will look like Intel 8280 (or similar) Chipset, or possibly VIA chipset.

the other answer is very correct. also you can try removing them from the device manager and rebooting the system. Depending on the OS you have it could potentially add new hardware and you should have them back.

Hijack---Sorry but I have the same problem. I uninstalled a prog and upon reboot my usb drivers are gone. Can't get any @ mobo site, but it is a VIA chipset. I'm running XP Pro and have cd. Tried del them in device manager but xp didn't reinstall them. I did reinstall via 4in1 drivers. System Restore says it has no pionts. Help please!!!
