2000 Server Reboot

By cadorpa1 ·
I have a windows 2000 advanced server PC (service pack II)that will reboot on its own and I can't figure out why. It's in our test lab and is a fresh install, with only a few apps on it nothing special. It will reboot when it is sitting idle.

I would disable any power options that may shut things down

Check the event logs for anything strange.

Right click my computer - properties - go to advanced tab - start up and recovery - settings - uncheck the restart server on failure. Now the next time it reboots - if its getting a stop error you will see the blue screen of death.

Check your hardware - see if anything is old / possibly shorted out.

Hook pc up to a different outlet - possibly power realted

good luck
