A Drive and CD-Rom unrecognized

By bwong ·
My computer can no longer find my A drive or CD-Rom drive. When restart, a notice to install unrecognized hardware pops up but times out when trying to install. Have any idea as to what i may do to fix this problem?

What OS? Check BIOS setup first to see if they are recognized by the machine. If so, go to safe mode and check device manager for problems. If they aren't recognized by bios then you should check to see that the ribbon cables to the drives are connected correctly.
If the 'notice' mentions the drive/drives then bios has already seen them. Try removing the drivers from device manager while in safe mode and restart to normal mode.

Check the bios if they are recognised. If they are not edit the BIOS. If they are then istall the necessary drivers for them also you can use the add new hard ware from the control panel in Windows
