a FreeBSD tool to calculate bandwidth?

By TRfreak ·

I'm looking for a FREE tool for FreeBSD that will calculate bandwidth and also limit the amount of disk space being used for each account (Web site). Obviously, I would prefer one where I can specify which Web sites to calculate the bandwidth for.
Is there such a thing out there?

Here are a couple of bandwidth mgmt tools, but I don't think they'll help in limiting user accounts size.

Great tools, but my question is only partly answered -- I really need something that will control how much disk space a user's account can be.

Well, limiting the disk space used for each account should be pretty easy using the quota
support that comes out of the box with FreeBSD.
About the calculation of bandwith, if you just want to limit the maximum of bandwith a web site can consumeyou can try Elipse (http://www.bell-labs.com/project/eclipse/release/) wich brings QoS to FreeBSD. On the other hand if what you want is to calculate how much bandwith a site is consuming in a given time, you can make a simple perl script that extracts from the site web-lobs how many bytes were serviced by the webserver. Alternatively you can use a tool like remstats (http://silverlock.dgim.crc.ca/remstats/release/index.html) to do the same
