about moving access 97 files

By schristo ·
I have moved access 97 databases to a new machine. I used NetIQ's Server Consolidator program to do this. All files, permissions, shares are the same as the old server.
I now get the message "The directory name is invalid" when I double-click on the database. However, if I open access 97 first then open the file, it works. Any ideas on what's causing this?

One possibility -- the path associated with when 'I double-click on the database' needs to be updated. Right click what you are double-clicking, select properties, confirm the path has beeen updated to the new location.

Check whether your new system is using UNC paths, where names are truncated.
