ACCESS2000 and IIS 4.0/ Front Page

By dkemper314 ·
Have access 2000 database built; have IIS 4.0 intalled and configured; need users to be able to open database and enter data from a web interface. Have tried converting all to asp (couldn't open), html (static views, no input possible, can't even select records)Have tried just dumping a link to a Virtual Directory on a page (takes long time to download, but then fast BUT read only and no warning- changes are not saved.)
Database small =64MB

100 points for a good "how to" reference
(even ifit means page by page)
500 points for the actual "how to"

ACCESS2000 and IIS 4.0/ Front Page

I’ll assume you have a File DSN defined in ODBC already (let’s say it’s MyDB.dsn). Also assume the form and database table have two fields: Field1, Field2. The following code should work:

Dim SQLString, MyConnection, MyCmd

Set MyConnection = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
MyConnection.Open "FILEDSN=MyDB.dsn"

Set MyCmd = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Command")
Set MyCmd.ActiveConnection = MyConnection
SQLString = "INSERT INTO TableName (Field1, Field2) VALUES (?,?)"
MyCmd.CommandText = SQLString
MyCmd.Prepared = True
MyCmd.Parameters.Append MyCmd.CreateParameter("Field1",200,,255)
MyCmd.Parameters.Append MyCmd.CreateParameter("Field2",200,,255)

MyCmd("Field1") = Request.Form.Item('Field1')
MyCmd(“Field2”) = Request.Form.Item(“Field2”)

MyCmd.Execute

MyConnection.Close
MyConnection = Nothing

ACCESS2000 and IIS 4.0/ Front Page

Hi!
Use the Office 2000 Server Extensions (included in Premium Edition)
Install those Extensions on your IIS.
Use Data Access Pages in Access 2000.
Now you can use all the access functionality (convert forms to DA - Pages) in a INTRANET(!!!) web-page.

hope that helps
Oliver
