Access97 Page Header Problem

By Ivy ·
I have a report that has a page header, group header and group footer. The detail is two columns and contains 2 subreports. The group footer is 2 columns also and contains 1 subreport. My problem is the page header prints on the second page even though there are no detail records. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Access97 Page Header Problem

Surely the Pager Header appears on every page and as it is formatted before the Group Header, Detail or Footers will always appear on Page1? Is this correct or is there a typo somewhere?

Also it is worth noting that Sub Reports do not shrink when there is no data but retain their original size.

Even when the report is only one page long, a page header prints on an empty second page.

Also, all the sections in a subreports can grow and shrink .

Access Reports are formatted in the following order and will also print the sections in the following order unless you have set the "Force New Page" property to something other than none for one of the sections.

Report Header
Page Header
GroupHeaders
Detail
Page Footer/Group Footers (Depending on how much detail)
Report Footer

Since you do not mention using a Report Header or any code then the Page Header MUST format first. You can stop the Page Header printing on Page 1 etc but you have not mentioned setting this up either.

When viewing your subreport in the design view of the report note that this is the amount of space that the sub report will take regardless of wether there is any detail or you have set the can grow can shrink properties of the items in the sub report. I take it you have nothing but detail in the Sub Report.

Sorry I cannot be of any further help.

Re-Reading you second response I realise that you state that you are getting a Second Page with a Page Header as well as your first Page and not as in the original message only getting a Page Header on the second Page.

This should be caused by there not being quite enough room to fit everything onto one page even with no detail records. Remember you can hide stuff in the page footer but you cannot remove it during run time either by .visible or trying to make the section height 0.
