Everything is so complicated and fancy. I need program for small office. Need general ledger & don't know if these programs (Microsoft type) allow payroll deductions (liabilities)from the checkbook or if you need separate payroll system. I understand plain old assets, liab., rev., & expenses. Only find info showing elaborate pies, graphs, etc. As you can tell this is all very new to me. Hope I am able to find your reply on my computer. Thank you very much, Ruth.

I am not sure what exactly you are asking, but if you are looking for a software which can run accounting along with your payroll, I would strongly recomend QUICK BOOK PRO which cost about $230.00 Canadian. This software can not only do general accounting but payroll, all beautiful graphs, and all financial statements. You can also ask system to keep track of all tax related items too. I have using the software for last 7 years and implemented in several companies. One thing I love about this software is that you can always delete if you screw up;)

Go to www.abs-software.com

They have a General Ledger module that can be used by itself.

It is a plain old Assets, Liab., Income, and Expense without all the elaborate charts and graphs.

And you will not need a separate payroll system to do what you are asking for.

Thank you both for your prompt responses. At the time I did try to e-mail you both a thank you, but they came back. Did not think to do this, sorry. I appreciate both, and did look into both and ended up with Quick Books Pro. It's working well, thankfully it does allow corrections. Thank you both again.
