I didn't know the AspireOne HAD a CD drive ...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Acer AspireOne Black Scre ...

I assume you have an external CD drive attached - if so, you really should have set the AspireOne to boot from USB.

Is there a disc in the CD-drive ?

It may be a non-system disc and your Acer is getting stuck trying to read it - nothing on the screen.

Have you tried getting back into the BIOS, even if you cannot see anything on the screen, you can still go through the sequence of keystrokes immediately after power-on.

This may just be a coincidence but might be your backlight ...

Changing the BIOS settings may have just been a coincidence.

Can you hold the AspireOne at an angle to the surrounding light and 'SEE' anything on the screen? Even if it looks really dim is there still an faint image?

Are you running this unit on battery power? Sometimes, on battery power, the screen brightness dims right down to save battery power. Have you tried this on mains power?

If all else fails and it seems to be the backlight - your AspireOne must still be under warranty.

The solution

that I summised was to flash the BIOS. <s>That is what all of the main manufacturers would suggest before sending it back for repair.</s>

I'll try that Solution, but what if it Failed?

by Jama Yassin In reply to The solution

Jacky if Flash Solution Failed what it can cause to the notebook. I want to try that solution because it seemed the only solution. but I'm afraid if it cause more problem.

what's more I don't understand this "Download the latest BIOS, and put both FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file in the root directory of the stick. Rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD, that's important. Do not remove the USB stick"
can u explain me more in this.
Thanks
