Acrobat reader:How to stop view resizing

By TRMcDougle ·
When reading Acrobat (PDF) files in the reader (Ver 4.04) is there any way to force the documents to open in the size/zoom I have selected instead of the size the author has selected (often Fit Visible). This is because that size is unreadable on my screen (at least for the documents in question, which are the only PDF's I normally view).

In Acrobat, you can set a document to open at a certain magnification by selecting <File><Document Info><Open...> and then selecting the magnification you want from the pull down menu labeled <Magnification>. This must be done for each document. I don't think that this quite answers your question though. I haven't used the reader in some time, only the full Acrobat program. From what I recall, you can't set those options in the reader. It's still pretty good for a free program though!

As you say this is not much help, for instance when the pdf is opening as the result of a search (as in this case). Thanks anyway.

Open Acrobat Reader (the actual app).
Go to File > Preferences > General
In the middle, you should see Magnification. Set "Default Zoom" to Fit Visible. Set "Max Fit Visible" to your preference. That should be it. Hope this helps.

The problem is that if the author has specified a setting (instead of leaving it at default) then their choice is used, not mine.
