Admin reports in Exchange Server 5.5

By val ·
Is there a way to create logs or reports from Exhange Server 5.5? For example, top 10 e-mail users (Sent and Received). Or 3rd party software that will generate such reports.

Yes, there are some options, depending on what kind of reporting you need:

1) you can analyse tracking logs which are just text (tab-separated-values) files.

2) you can analyse Event Log (you have to enable certain level of event logging for Exchange components)

3) in case you are familiar with CDO you can use CDO Script with MSEX Scripting and routing to create custom reports like www.cdolive.com/mbxreport.htm

4) you can dig into slipstick.com for a third party tool:

Tracking logs and event logs will not provide the type of reporting we are looking for. I'm not familiar with CDO, but will look into it. Slipstick is a great resource for e-mail add-ons, will investigate further. Thanks for your answer!
